A Norwich Off-White Domestic (K Rend Silicone Render System)

This job in Norwich in Norfolk came about when a homeowner reached out after spotting some of our past work around the area. Their problem? Even though this was a newish build, the traditional sand and cement render was displaying peeling paint on the house exterior that seemed to need constant touch-ups. They wanted a long-term fix—a solution that wouldn’t have them climbing ladders with a paintbrush every few months. Fair enough, right?

When we took a closer look, we saw that while the paint was in bad shape, the underlying render was still solid and holding tight to the brickwork. That was a win because it meant we didn’t need to strip everything back to square one. Instead, we could focus on sorting out the paint and giving the house a new lease of life, without breaking the bank.

The first task was stripping off all the loose, flaking paint. Skipping this step would’ve been asking for trouble since new render doesn’t stick well to old, peeling layers. Then, we got out the jet washer to give the walls a proper clean—removing dirt, algae, and anything else that might interfere with the process. A clean surface makes all the difference when it comes to getting a finish that lasts.

Next we rolled on an acrylic bonding agent. Think of it like a primer but with extra grip—it’s got small aggregates that create a rough texture for the new render to cling to. We applied it carefully across the walls, using a mix of rollers, brushes, and spray machines to ensure every inch was covered.

With the prep sorted, we moved on to the main event: the K-Rend silicone render system. K-Rend is made to last, and to achieve its long lasting effects, we start with a reinforced 6mm basecoat to prevent cracking, then, after smoothing a second 4mm layer, we primed it all and applied the topcoat in a crisp Limestone White finish. The result? A sleek, modern exterior that’s as low-maintenance as it gets. The homeowner was over the moon—no more peeling paint, just a fresh look that’ll stand up to the elements for years to come.
